Two valid blocks are found at the same height a few seconds apart. How do nodes settle which chain to follow?

• The majority of nodes holds a vote
• The block with more transactions wins
• They keep building, and follow whichever chain ends up with the most proof of work

A friend says their pruned node "doesn't really check old blocks". Are they right?

• Yes, a pruned node only checks recent blocks
• No, it checks every block when it syncs, then deletes old block files
• Yes, it trusts the longest chain like a light wallet
